History
Founded in 2002 by Mary Rogers and Rosemarie Hartnett, Abrakadoodle was created through the combination of a love for education, and a passion for art. The founders noted a growing need for art programs for children and developed an expansive art education program. The art program was initially introduced at community centers and schools in Northern Virginia where they discovered the program's instant success.
Mary and Rosemary both realized based on their extensive education experience that Abrakadoodle was the right program to franchise to bring the joys of the program to children everywhere. They were both aware of the gaps in children’s visual art education where imagination could be encouraged creatively for kids. Additionally, school budgets were being reduced and spending was being moved to other areas of learning, Abrakadoodle knew its innovative teaching through art could deliver more than traditional art, bringing happiness to kids while stimulating their minds.
Through the application of solid teaching principles and practices, exciting and imaginative activities and the freedom to explore and discover, Abrakadoodle has brought fun and art to more than one million children worldwide.
Ideal Candidate
The right candidate is a person who enjoys teaching children, has a passion for the arts and likes to see the wonder in a child come to life. Excellent organizational skills, patience, communication and a warm smile are great attributes. Any experience teaching and working with children as a camp counselor, teacher’s aid or volunteer will be good as well.
