Training & Support
All franchise owner-operators receive a comprehensive 16-week training program which covers all aspects of operating the franchise and all positions in the restaurant. Costs to attend training are included in the initial franchise fee. Costs for meals, lodging and transportation are the franchise owner’s responsibility. Training takes place in Wisconsin at a company-owned restaurant and at Culver's ButterBurger® University in Prairie du Sac, WI.
History
George Culver spent many years as a dairy farm inspector for the Wisconsin Dairies Cooperative. While doing this work, Ruth Culver raised their three children in Sauk City, Wisconsin. Then, in 1961, an opportunity presented itself for them to start their own restaurant. Ruth led the way with her friendly manner and Midwest values while George managed the kitchen. It was a match made in heaven. As their children grew, they became part of the business learning all there was about owning and operating a restaurant.
In 1984, Craig and Lee founded Culver’s with assistance from their parents in their home town and the legend was born. Culver’s signature combination of ButterBurgers and Fresh Frozen Custard was created through the inspiration of his mom’s favorite hamburgers and vacation treat, fresh frozen custard.
