History
Dippin' Dots, originated in 1988, when microbiologist Curt Jones invented the concept, creating beaded ice cream using cryogenic technology. The resulting product was attractive for its fresh flavor and unique appearance. In 1989, Dippin' Dots began selling at amusement parks. Following that, in 1991, the company organized a dealer network to sell at events and stores.
In 1995, Dippin' Dots opened a new production plant in Kentucky. That year also marked its expansion into international market when it began selling product in Japan. Branded Dippin' Dot vending machines came on the market in 1998.
The company established its franchise in 2000. In 2003, it continued its expansion into the Asian market by licensing production in South Korea.
Scott Fischer became the company president in 2012. He introduced further innovations, including the sale of Dippin' Dots in convenience stores and pharmacies. In 2015, the company became affiliated with Doc Popcorn, opening several co-branded locations where customers could purchase both ice cream and popcorn.
