Why Choose Doubletree?
DoubleTree franchisees work with Hilton's franchise management. This means they take advantage of Hilton's extensive resources, experience and management approaches honed over many years of growing and developing a variety of hotel brands. Hilton provides extensive training for various personnel in the franchisee's operation. The company is also willing to work with franchisees on a case-by-case basis and provide some types of financing incentives.
Hilton also cultivates customer loyalty through its Hilton Honors program; members have an incentive to prioritize staying at Hilton-owned hotels, including DoubleTree. Like all Hilton hotels, DoubleTree hotels benefit from Hilton's commitment to incorporating cutting-edge technology and increasing guests' comfort.
The DoubleTree brand also enjoys widespread name recognition of its own. Since its inception in 1969, the DoubleTree hotel brand has emphasized its welcoming attitude, high-quality accommodations and customizable experience. The warm cookie DoubleTree hotels began handing out at check-in in the 1980s continues to serve as a tangible symbol of the brand.

History
The first DoubleTree Hotel opened in Arizona in 1969. In the following decades, the hotel chain developed its brand, introducing its trademark gesture of providing fresh chocolate chip cookies at check-in in the 1980s. DoubleTree continued to experience growth and in 1997 was acquired by the Promus Hotel Corporation, which was bought by Hilton in 1999.
During the 2000s, under Hilton's stewardship, the DoubleTree brand has seen a rapid rate of growth. Currently, over 500 DoubleTree hotels and resorts are operating in over 40 countries. Currently, Hilton is looking to further expand its DoubleTree hotels, focusing especially on the Asia-Pacific region, which is experiencing a surge in business development and travel.
Ideal Candidate
Opening a DoubleTree requires a substantial financial commitment. The initial franchise fee is $75,000, plus $400 per each room or suite over 250. The investment you need to begin operating a 250-room hotel generally ranges from $22,022,700 to $63,316,150. Costs can vary if you plan on opening a DoubleTree Resort or add a spa. Hilton has strict requirements concerning the products DoubleTree owners must use and provide.
Hilton also expects DoubleTree franchisees to possess hotel management experience. Franchisees without the requisite experience may have to retain a management company with appropriate qualifications. In some cases, Hilton deems the property is best managed by its own company. Prospective owners may have to submit an independent market study. Owners about to purchase land must also conduct an environmental assessment.
