History
The first Fazoli's opened in 1988 in Ashland, Kentucky. At the time, the restaurant was owned by Jerrico, Inc. The following year, four more Fazoli's opened in Lexington, Kentucky. By the late 1990s, Fazoli's was enjoying a high rate of growth. Like many other chain restaurants, the success of Fazoli's slowed towards the end of the 2000s. However, the company was able to rebound thanks to a judicious overhaul under the leadership of then-new CEO Carl Howard, who remains at the helm today. The comprehensive update included a new and expanded menu, upgraded recipes, brighter décor and even real plates. Other improvements included a wider range of healthy options and a more customizable menu.
Ideal Candidate
Fazoli's is currently seeking franchisees willing to open multiple units, although it may still approve single-unit development in specific cases when it makes the most business sense. New franchisees who agree to open at least five full or in-line end-cap restaurants may be eligible for a reduced initial franchise fee as well as other discounts.
