Why Choose Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries?
Five Guys has been successful in maintaining the core element of its success: the emphasis on fresh, quality burgers and fries. The company highlights that it does not use frozen, prefabricated fries or burgers. In spite of tough competition in the restaurant industry, Five Guys has persistently ranked at or near the top of burger restaurant rankings. Thus, the company brings over 30 years of positive brand recognition and a demographic of loyal and enthusiastic customers.
Another major reason for the success Five Guys enjoys is its strict adherence to procedure that works and the refusal to adopt compromises that could detract from product quality. For example, the process for making fries is timed and prescribed down to the second. The restaurant also does not deliver. Sticking to these stances is one way the company has maintained the high quality of its product.

History
Jerry and Janie Murrell, with their sons, opened the first Five Guys location in 1986, in Arlington, VA. From the start, their mission was to serve the perfect burger and fries. The menu was simple but high-quality, with all food cooked fresh from good ingredients. Their burger was voted top in the D.C. area.
Between 1986 and 2001, the Murrells opened five locations centered around the D.C. metro area. During this period, the company focused on developing its brand and perfecting its product, rather than on a high rate of expansion. This endeavor succeeded and Five Guys gained a devoted following of customers who appreciated the quality and flavor combined with fast service.
In 2002, Five Guys began offering franchises in the neighboring states of Virginia and Maryland. In less than two years, this territory became sold out and the company started franchising in the rest of the country as well. Eventually, Five Guys franchises opened up overseas as well.
Today, Five Guys has almost 1,500 locations globally and has another 1,500 in development. Five Guys company-owned and franchised restaurants are now operating in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East.
