History
In 1960, Wallace Sangster purchased Northern Health Foods in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from a man who had purportedly cured himself of cancer by ingesting vast amounts of Alfalfa in tea and tablet form. What began back in 1960 as a single family business became a company when Roy Sangster followed in his father’s foot steps and founded his own company in 1971 known as Sangster’s® Health Foods. The original location was opened in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and continues to operate to this day.
Back in the mid 70’s the percentage of the population that purchased health foods was very small, but growing rapidly. Seeing the potential of his industry, Roy and Pat made the decision to franchise, and opened their first franchised store in 1978. Sangster’s® advantage began when Roy and Pat introduced their own exclusive line of vitamins, which helped expand the company.
Today Pat Sangster is still running the company honouring Roy's vision for the company.
