History
From the evolution of hand-painted signs to innovative digital printing, SpeedPro has remained a leader in the wide-format graphics industry. Our story began when Blair Gran opened the first SpeedPro Signs shop in Alberta, Canada. Blair was the product of a sign-making family and combined his family’s reputation for excellence with new technology. His innovative techniques increased productivity and provided customers with more options than ever before.
In 1991, Blair’s model proved so successful that he began franchising SpeedPro Signs in 1996 in Canada. SpeedPro Signs became synonymous with creative imaging solutions and service that was tailored to businesses. More than just a vendor for its customers – SpeedPro Signs became a partner.
In 2001, Blair once again revolutionized his franchise empire by integrating the desktop computer with wide-format, full-color processing. SpeedPro Signs became one of the first major franchises to shift into wide-format image production and away from sign-making. In 2001 “Imaging” was added to the SpeedPro name. This change allowed businesses who had never had access to wide-format printing or imaging to find affordable solutions, creating an entirely new market in which the brand continues to excel to this day.
In 2003, SpeedPro Imaging began franchising in the USA with three locations in the Dallas, Texas market. In 2014, the company was acquired by a new ownership group and in 2019 SpeedPro Imaging reimaged its brand appearance and became SpeedPro.
Paul Brewster became President and CEO in 2022, and that same year SpeedPro awarded its first multi-unit Studio Franchise Agreement and reached nearly $100 million in system wide sales. In 2023, the SpeedPro system surpassed $104 million in gross sales!
The franchise continues to grow and achieve market penetration across the U.S. and Canada, making GREAT. BIG. GRAPHICS. accessible for every business.
Testimonials
"What drew me to SpeedPro was the high quality and revolutionizing the [large format printing] industry. I didn't think I wanted to get into the printing business, but when I learned of the model, I really liked the quality and service focus." - Steve Moran-Cassese, San Rafael, CA
"We chose SpeedPro because it was on the leading edge of print technology, is within a growing, creative industry, and includes an incredible owner network. No matter the issue, there’s always an owner offering advice and support." - Littie and Karen Brown, Marietta, GA
"The principal thing that attracted me to SpeedPro was the other owners in the system. We have 130+ owners... and there is a lot of power in that. They're accessible, they share ideas, experiences, tough times and good times... and that has been a life line as we have progressed. I was looking to get more flexibility in my lifestyle so I could spend more time with my family. I also always wanted to take a shot and try to build my own business. SpeedPro offered me that opportunity." - Gary Yenser, Memphis, TN
Ideal Candidate
The ideal SpeedPro franchisee candidate has a sales, marketing, or business development background and has strong networking abilities. Franchisees must be comfortable building relationships and sales in their community and overseeing day to day operations of their business. Experience in the printing industry is not required to be a SpeedPro owner, but a business professional with experience in sales and marketing in the B2B environment generally has the skillsets necessary to be successful as a SpeedPro franchisee.
